What Daunorubicin?
The name of medicine is Daunorubicin 20mg Powder for I.V. Injection.It belongs to a group of medicines used to treat acute leukaemia.

Do not have daunorubicin if:
- You are sensitive to, or allergic to, daunorubicin or other anthracyclines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
Signs of an allergic reaction include:
- a rash
- swallowing or breathing problems,
- swelling of your lips,face, throat or tongue
- You have chicken pox or shingles, or you have been in recent contact with anyone who has chicken pox or shingles
- You have an infection, fever or high temperature
- You have any heart problems
- You are pregnant or breast-feeding
- You have a lot of mouth ulcers
Warnings and precautions
Take special care with daunorubicin
You have had radiation treatment to the chest
You have had any other medicines to treat leukaemia (or cancer)
You have or have ever had gout
You have or have ever had kidney stones or any other kidney problems
You have any liver problems
You are sexually active, you are advised to use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy during treatment, whether you are male or female.
If you are not sure if any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor or nurse before being given daunorubicin.
Side Effects
Tell your doctor, nurse or pharmacist as soon as possible if you do not feel well while you are being given Daunorubicin Injection.
Like other medicines, Daunorubicin can cause some side effects. If they occur, most are likely to be minor or temporary. However, some may be serious and need medical attention.
Ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist to answer any questions that you may have.
Do not be alarmed by this list of possible side effects. You may not experience any of them.
Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you:
• flushing of the face (hot and red)
• nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea,abdominal pain
• dark areas on the nails and skin
• hair loss
• reddish urine
These are more common side effects of Daunorubicin Injection.
Tell your doctor immediately or go to your nearest hospital emergency
department if you notice any of the following:
• infections, fever, severe chills,sore throat, mouth ulcers
• sores in mouth and on lips,heartburn, or difficulty swallowing
• unusual bruising or bleeding
• heart problems
• difficulty in breathing or any swelling
• burning, stinging, hotness,redness or pain where the injection is being given
• abdominal pain
• swelling, redness or tenderness in the vein
• itchy rash or skin reaction
